All of Merced is invited to a "Survivor"-watching party at The Branding Iron restaurant to root for Merced resident Katie Gallagher as she competes for the $1 million prize on the final episode of CBS' reality show "Survivor: Palau."

Festivities are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Sunday at the restaurant, 640 W. 16th St., with the show beginning at 8 p.m. There is no cover charge for the party, and it will be open to the public.

The three-hour finale will be shown on two large projection screens, one inside and one outside the restaurant, said Greg Parle, restaurant co-owner.

"It will be really fun," Parle said. "We've never done anything like this before and I'm pretty sure we'll probably never do it again."

Parle said he had no idea how many people are expected to show up, but "when we reach capacity, then we reach capacity."

Parle's son, Justin, said the restaurant will sell two "special" drinks -- a Palauan Sunrise and a Koror Mai Tai -- in honor of Gallagher's 39 days on the tropical island.
